What time is Christmas Mass in Florida?

Each parish sets its own times. Christmas Masses are usually on the afternoon and evening of December 24 and on December 25. We show times here when a parish has posted them. If it has not posted yet, see its regular weekend Masses and call the parish.

Does a Christmas Eve Mass count for Christmas?

Yes. Christmas Day (Friday, December 25) is always a holy day of obligation. A Christmas Mass on the evening of Thursday, December 24 also counts, and so does a Mass on Christmas Day.

Is the Immaculate Conception a holy day of obligation in 2026?

Yes. The Immaculate Conception is Tuesday, December 8, 2026. In the United States, Catholics must go to Mass that day. The rule is lifted only when December 8 falls on a Sunday. This year it is a Tuesday.

What is Misa de Gallo?

Misa de Gallo is the Christmas midnight Mass. The name is a Spanish tradition and means "Mass of the Rooster." Some parishes offer it in Spanish on Christmas Eve. Times vary, so check with your parish.

When do parishes in Florida post their Christmas times?

Parishes usually post Christmas schedules from late November through mid December. We add times here as they post them. Until then, the safest way to know is to call the parish.

Do Catholics skip meat on Christmas Friday?

No. Christmas is a solemnity, so Friday abstinence from meat does not apply that day (canon 1251). Christmas falls on a Friday this year.

Is January 1 a holy day of obligation?

Yes. Mary, Mother of God, is Friday, January 1. It falls on a Friday this year, so the obligation stands. It is lifted only when it falls on a Saturday or a Monday.
